In an attempt to marginalize Barack Obama, his detractors have, for the past year, compared him to other failed democratic candidates. His supporters, on the other hand, have compared him to successful ones. Let’s examine some.

| Why? | This Illinois liberal was beloved by intellectuals, but was roundly trounced by the more down-to-earth war-hero Dwight Eisenhower in back-to-back elections. | ||
| How It Fell Apart | Obama gave better speeches then Stevenson and was able to broaden his appeal to many rural voters. | ||
| Final Verdict | This one is so 2007. | ||
| Gary Hart (circa-1983) | |||
| Why? | This “outsider” candidate was famously criticized as lacking beef; i.e., all style and no substance. (Hart even endorsed Obama!) |

| How It Fell Apart | Clinton has tried the same attack as Mondale. It’s failed for two possible reasons: 1) The media hates Clinton; or 2) It’s completely ridiculous, as all you need to do is check the candidate’s web site to see what he stands for. | ||
| Final Verdict | McCain will likely try the same attack, although if the NYT story gains traction, he could be the one being compared to Gary Hart. | ||

| Why? | He’s black. And white people won’t vote for him. Get it? | ||

| Why? | David Frum writes: “Like Obama, Bryant was a charismatic young political (just 36 at the time of his first presidential run!) with a thin political record. Yet on the strength of one legendary speech at a Democratic national convention, he was clutched to heart by the party’s left wing and made the repository of its grandest hopes on a whole range of so-called progressive causes.” |

Barack Obama is just like any Northern liberal in the last forty years. Humphrey, McGovern, Mondale, Dukakis or Kerry. Final Verdict? It always ends badly for the Democrats.

Obama is just like Adam seduced by Eve to taste the fruit of politics, his eyes were opened and he needed to redeem himself so he put in a bid for candidacy, comparable to noah’s ark, if Hillary wins the flood will come , next he became like Abraham when he decided to sacrifice his privacy for the greater good as ordered, Next he behaved like Moses a babe saved from the usual destruction of the black man to survive and set all people free from the political dynasty the Bush’s and Clinton’s are trying to build, modeled after their enemies in the middle east. Barack Obama is one of a kind, it’s his time, it’s our time, it’s god’s time.
Many similarities to Bobby Kennedy! The charisma, idealism, humility, genuine caring for those less fortunate, fighting injustice, and opposition to the war. I saw Bobby campaign in the Bronx and heard Barack speak in Hartford. The similarities are striking!
I see in the future Barack Obama leading US(us) out of this wilderness that the god of this world has put US(us)into…I see a bright future lying ahead and we as a unit must help him bring these things to pass…Yes We Can!

Barack Obama is just like what this country needs to stop building dynasties, to balance the super-rich with the ordinary man, and to make this country repesent all the people, not just the ones with money & power.
Barack will become president by default. President Obama …I even like how it sounds. McCain is a non-candidate, presidential cotton candy. Barack always seems to ask for people to pray for him. We need to not only pray for him but pray that we and America toss off our blinkers, roll up our sleeves to support, direct and protect Obama to achieve what he said he would do and whatever else we feel needs to be done. The efforts we make for change will be the largest ingredient in any success story here. Obama is the facilitator.
