hmmmm, not sure Obama’s message is intended to lead people into bad financial decisions.
Looking at all the recent foreclosures, sometimes you actually can’t.

Deborah, you’ve missed the point.
This is not a commercial for the national association of realtors (NAR). This is about inspiring confidence and hope in a nation. This is about consumer confidence, which is required to energize the country out of recession.
It is like the whole $140/barrel crisis. Gas shot up to $5/gallon in some places in this country. What was George Bush’s response? Risk our beautiful shores by drilling more holes right next to marine life sanctuaries. What was Obama’s response? Reduce our dependency on oil and find alternatives. What was the country’s response? We stopped driving so much, we bought scooters, we started riding bicycles and public transportation. What was the end result? A surprising surplus of oil and a significant downward trend in oil trading and prices at the pump.
This message is about leadership and sending the right signals to the people of this country and our neighbors around the world.

this film is a bit overbearing, especially with the “inspirational” music. i think it could easily be seen as pandering, blatant propaganda and backfire against obama’s campaign. also, i don’t think obama would have approved of the working conditions during the casting process, where about a hundred people had to wait in a hallway with no air conditioning in the middle of summer for 2 hours just to audition. i know this might make me seem a bit biased against the film (i auditioned for the “war” webisode, which is even more melodramatic), but i thought the same thing about the script for that one as i was reading it over and over and over…
